NM Land Grant Council Information

About Us

The New Mexico Land Grant Council is a state agency tasked with providing a program of support to Spanish and Mexican Community Land Grants-Mercedes in New Mexico that are political subdivisions of the State. The Council is administratively attached to the Department of Finance and Administration and contracts with the University of New Mexico to provide administrative and staff support to the Council. It was established by the New Mexico Legislature in 2009. The Council also serves as a liaison between mercedes and other state agencies and the federal government.
